There are two ways to generate library reminders both of which are described here. Both can be set up together or only using one method may be preferred. It is highly recommended that reminders are fully configured before they are sent out. See the section entitled Editing Reminders and Reminder Settings on the left menu for details.

Scheduling

The library system includes the ability to schedule every type of reminder, reducing the need to generate them manually at a regular interval. Scheduling reminders means that reminders are automatically generated every day, week, fortnight or month. Reminders that are created using the scheduler will generate for all borrowers who have overdue books.

Manually

In addition or as an alternative, it is possible to generate any type of reminder manually, whenever it is required. This allows full control over the borrowers that the reminders are distributed to and when they are sent. The schedule can be used to generate reminders at a regular interval but this is not always required in all environments. Reminders should be manually generated when custom intervals/settings are required which the scheduler cannot accommodate. For example, on some occasions reminders may only need to be generated for certain groups or may want distributing every other week.

Manually generating reminders can also be used to generate a single reminder for a selected student.
