When using Reading Cloud, certain features can be turned on or off, such as the chat and Facebook/Twitter integration. This page describes each setting that is available from Settings / Module Settings / Social Settings. If you are looking for information about Welcome Messages or the Home Screen, see the appropriate topics on the left menu.

Enable Chat

This setting allows users to communicate with each other using the built-in chat facility.

Enable Facebook News

Enables the Facebook news feed on the home page.

Facebook ID

The numeric ID of the Facebook profile you wish to link to

Enable Twitter News

Enables the Twitter news feed on the home page

Twitter ID

The numeric ID of the Twitter profile you wish to link to

Enable Public Profiles

When this setting is enabled, the users will be given the ability to tick an option that will allow their blog posts to be accessible by users that are not logged in to the Reading Cloud.

Enable Safe Search

Enabling the 'Safe Search' option prevents users from being able to view resources that MLS have deemed inappropriate (content that is deemed inappropriate when it contains words from a "banned" word list). Should this option not be enabled, a message will still show but the user will be able to continue.

Enable MARC and bib1 detail view

When you enable this setting, the resource details shown on the Reading Cloud home page will display the associated MARC tag. This information will be visible under More Info as demonstrated below.

Enable Blogs

When enabled, this gives users the ability to write their own blog posts.

Librarian Email Address

To receive administrative notifications, enter the email address that these notifications should be sent to.

Allow Emails to Librarian

If this setting is enabled, it allows users to email the librarian when they are logged in

Show Library Resources Only

When this is enabled it the front-end search will stop pulling suggestion from DOL and only use resources catalogued in your catalogue. This will affect other areas as well. For instance, when you open the Author page, this will no longer show all books that author has written but rather just the subset of books that the library catalogue contains. Searching on Discovery is still available via Quick Search / Advanced search.
