Cashless Catering is a term used to describe paying for a school meal without needing the cash to hand. Normally, parents/guardians can top up their child's account online and also monitor what they are eating.

So why is this relevant to the library system?

When a school/organisation has implemented some form of cashless catering solution they are normally using thumb-print or RFID to register the borrowers. If the library was then using a separate technology, for example, MLS's Identikit module then a separate list of biometric information has to be maintained. This means that borrowers are registering with the cashless catering system and in the library system. It's often more efficient to use one central system that can be used for both. This means if a borrower re-registers their print in the canteen then this is also reflected in the library system.
