The settings in iMLS can be used to configure and change several aspects of the system. This section details each setting and explains how to change them.
Media Quality
The media quality can be used to change the quality of the images displayed in iMLS. This may speed up the use of the app when attempting to use it in areas where WiFi is not enabled and a poor cellular connection is being used.
Tab either Low or High to select the setting that is desired.
Display Mode
This setting controls how the resources are displayed when browsing the New Arrivals, Returns Trolley and Top Ten. Use the toggle control to determine what method Cover Flow option is used.
Startup
By selecting an appropriate option under the Startup list, it is possible to select the area that will display when the app first loads up. For instance, if New Arrivals is chosen, that menu will display when a user is logged in.
To choose an area where the app should be started, tap the appropriate item on the menu.
When selected, a tick will display next to the item that has been selected.
Circulate
The Locked toggle control is a device setting that determines whether any user is able to access Circulate. By default, if a user is logged on to device where Circulate has been Unlocked then that user is able to access all Circulate functionality, with the exception of multi-issue multi-return. This setting overrides the borrower security group and effectively allows any user who is logged in (on the device that is unlocked) to access Circulate.
Field Auto Focus is used when a Bluetooth scanner is being used. Enabling this means that after a barcode is scanned, the cursor is moved in to the next field for you.
Allow Keyboard Input means that the user is able to type a number in to Circulate using the keyboard. If not this will be restricted to a Bluetooth scanner and the devices camera.
Stock Check
The settings listed under Stock Check are new in iMLS version 4. These settings are solely for using the Stock Check functionality.
Changing Sounds between ON and OFF determines whether the application will alert the user in the form of a sound when a resource is scanned. If sounds are turned ON then the app will make a beep when a resource is successfully entered in Stock Check. Conversely, a distinctively different sound is made when a resource is scanned and is not recognised in Stock Check.
Similarly with the vibrate setting, this option can be enabled so that the device vibrates when a resource is added to a stock check.
Toggle the Sounds and Vibrate control to enable/disable them.
Clear Data Store
The data store holds a small set of information from the library that is downloaded when the application is accessed, primarily to speed up the application and allow offline capabilities to function.
Clearing the Data Store will remove any Resource/Borrower data that has been downloaded to the device. Tap Clear Data Store to clear this information.
Clear Transaction Table
The transaction table stores all transactions that are currently unprocessed when a connection to the iMLS servers cannot be made. Unprocessed transactions are synched when a connection is successfully established. This allows the user to continue working/scanning whilst the app will try to complete unprocessed transactions.
There may be times when the Transaction table needs to be cleared. To do this, tap the Clear Transaction Table button.
