SIP2 is a protocol used for communication between the library application and other systems, such as a Self Service terminal, eBook platform (OverDrive), security gates and other systems that use SIP2. The library system comes with its own built-in SIP2 service.

Before you can use the SIP2 service, you must obtain a license.

·To open the SIP2 server settings area, click Settings / Module Settings / SIP2 Server... from the top menu and the settings box will show.

·Choose how you wish to identify the Borrowers using the SIP2 service, by selecting an available option from the Borrower Identifier combo box

·Should you be using the Barcode field then you can choose whether barcode masks should be applied. Click the Apply Barcode Masks check box to enforce this setting.

·The next two settings are identical to the ones described above but for Resources instead. Firstly, select what field the SIP service should look for when identifying a resource by selecting from the Resource Identifier combo box. Should you be using the Barcode field, you can optionall check Apply Barcode Masks to enforce this.

·The last setting in this section is the option to Change the SIP Password. The SIP2 system requires password authentication before it can be used. The username is always the number shown in the User ID box and you can click Change Password... to set the password at any time.
