This topic explains how to delete an individual borrower from the library system. For information on marking an entire Tutor Group as Leaver if all borrowers in that group have left the school,  click here.

Recycling Borrowers

The steps under this heading explain how to move borrowers to the recycle bin. This does not permanently delete the borrower record however, to delete a borrower record see the steps under the following heading Deleting Borrowers.

·Open the Borrowers table from the tool bar on the left.

·Locate the borrower in the list. This can be done several ways but normally the fastest way is to type in the name into the quick search box at the top right of the Management page and press Enter.

·Click on the row to highlight the record then click Remove on the right.

·A prompt will display asking to confirm if the record should be removed. Click Yes if this record should be removed or No to cancel.

Note that the message only advises to remove the Selected item/record and in this example, only one record was highlighted/selected. To remove multiple borrowers in one go, ensure they are all selected and flagged first. Click here for details on how to use flag all.

Deleting Borrowers

Once borrowers are Removed, they are retained in the Recycle Bin until Deleted. This is because it is normally necessary to run reports spanning multiple years worth of data including data based on the borrowing history of borrowers that are no longer actually at the school.

This may not always be the case however and if this is not required then they can be deleted from the recycle bin following the steps below.

Delete Borrowers with caution. If they are deleted, all associated loan history for any resource(s) that they borrowed will be lost which will be reflected when reporting on historic data.

·Open the Borrowers table from the tool bar on the left.

·Click Recycle from the right menu.

·The recycle bin showing all borrowers that are presently in the recycle bin will be showed.

·Highlight the borrower(s) to remove and click Delete on the right.

·A prompt will display advising that all past loan data for the borrower(s) will also be deleted.

Click Yes only if absolutely sure. These changes are irreversible.
