When purchasing batches of resources, many suppliers offer a barcoding service where the barcodes already contain a label before being delivered. Often, a digital MARC file is provided with these books that can be imported straight into the Catalogue, negating the need to add them one by one. Should you have a MARC file that does not contain barcodes within the accompanying file, you can either import this into the Catalogue and let the system automatically generate a barcode or import it into the Custom Catalogue.

The remaining parts of this topic explain how to import a MARC file into the Catalogue.

·Open the Resources table from the left menu

·Access the Import menu from Tools / Import...

·Click the Upload File button

The Import options that show may vary depending on your license.

·Select Choose Files and select the MARC file to upload. The file will automatically begin uploading and return to the Import window.

·Select Marc 21 from the list of file types

·Should you wish to let the system allocate a barcode to the book (one option for cases where the resources are not pre-barcoded), click Automatically allocate barcodes if none are specified.

·Click Import to begin importing the file into your catalogue. Once the system has processed the data, a screen will display showing you a summary of the records that have been processed.
