Before reading this topic, it is highly recommend to read the topic What is Cashless Catering and the topic on BioStore.

The EasyTrace integration may work one of three ways but each way achieves the same purpose and has the same level of integration.

1.The earlier implementations of EasyTrace used a program called a "Biotyper", which essentially emulated a barcode reader. When a card is scanned and borrower found in EasyTrace, a number would be output to circulate using the Biotyper much in the way a Barcode Reader operates. For this reason, it is imperative that the barcode number of the borrower is the same as the number the Biotyper outputs.

When using the Biotyper integration as described, this is configured by EasyTrace.

2.When using RFID, instead of a separate database being queried for the information the data can be stored into Eclipse. This is achieved by importing the data into the RFID field of a borrower record card through Active Directory. Normally, the information is imported into Active Directory and stored in the "Pager" field but theoretically it could be stored anywhere. For more information about how to import additional fields using Active Directory, see the topic Importing Extra Fields from Active Directory.

When configured in this way, the library systems RFID field is checked for the value scanned on the card. If there is a match then the borrower is loaded into Circulate.

3.The 3rd method of EasyTrace integration links to a BioStore database storing the information about a pupil. When they are verified, the borrower details will display in Circulate allowing them to take out a resource.
