The first screen that is displayed when the library system is opened is the ‘homepage’. The homepage gives access to core features of the library system for both borrowers and library staff. The appearance of the homepage (known as the 'interface') can be altered by changing the settings. The library system has several interfaces, each designed to engage users depending on their age range and preference. The interface can be set for a whole system or on a Tutor Group / Borrower basis.
The interfaces that are available / show depend on your license. The below table explains the interfaces that are available for each type of license:
"Sites" can be set up to display different interfaces when accessed. For example, if a system had an Eclipse + Junior license then it would be possible to create a site with one interface and another site with a different interface, even though both sites may show the same resources. It is not required to allocate resources to sites, this is optional.
In addition to loading different interfaces, sites can also be used to segregate resources. For instance, it may be desirable to have one license with two sites created, e.g. Senior-Library & Junior-Library and to have a different interface for each site. If the resources in the library system have been allocated to nominated sites then when that site is opened, only resources of the respective site will show. Any resources that are not allocated to a site will display in every site.
The topics in this section explain how to configure interfaces and sites.
